The two men who died on on Buchaille Etive Mor last Wednesday were an instructor and client on a Jagged Globe course the Sheffield-based guiding company said today.

In a statement on its web site, the company says that the pair, along with another course member had made an ascent of the classic Curved Ridge route and had opted to descend by the normally safe NNE Ridge due to snow conditions in the coire.

'At a location beyond Point 902 metres, a small area of snow gave way and knocked the 2 members of the Jagged Globe party off their feet. No one else was affected. Sadly, they were unable to stop their slide.'

The second course member along with an instructor and climber from another organisation descended hoping to find the pair, but sadly both died in the fall.
