... then watching him lecture on the Asgard Project at the Keswick Mountain Festival in May.
This year's
2010 Keswick
Mountain Festival in May is giving visitors the
opportunity to
tackle a
classic Lake District scramble with top climber Leo Houlding.

Leo,
a Cumbrian lad himself and something of a local hero, is going to be
coming to the festival on Saturday 22 May. During the day, he'll be
leading a scramble on
Cam
Crag Ridge, which is graded I, II or III depending on the
route you choose.
The day will start with a walk from Stonethwaite into the Langstrath
valley to the popular natural swimming pool at Blackmoss
Pott. The group will then tackle Cam Crag Ridge by a route
chosen to suit and with a rope for the more exposed sections.
It should be a great opportunity to see Leo in action, albeit somewhat
below his grade, and chat to him about his climbing experiences and the
Asgard Project adventure.
You'll also be able to learn from the instructors with Shearwater
Adventure Training, who will be guiding and protecting the scramble.
Asgard Lecture
That evening, Leo will be appearing at the Theatre by the Lake and
talking about The Asgard Project, the first free ascent of
Mount Asgard's North Face and BASE jump descent in a wingsuit.
The trip has been described as a ‘epic struggle’ by the team and Leo
Houlding said it was his biggest challenge to date:
“The Asgard Project was the most epic adventure you can imagine. It was
way harder than Everest! We were pushed to the very
limit. Had things been any harder we would have failed, or
worse.”
