A quick thumbs up for Woodhead MRT's annual fundraiser, taking place on Saturday 6th October - that's the weekend after this one, so you've still got time for the odd bit of last minute preparation, erm, maybe.
The organisers have put together a new route this year, taking in 15 miles - 23 miles for the energetic (or the lost?!) - of bridleways, footpaths, and moorland in the north east of the Peak District. All-comers are invited to don their trail running shoes and whip around the course, or just to enjoy a Saturday ramble around in walking boots.
All participants will be fed and water, with a good hot meal no less, and all the sponsorship money you raise goes to the Mountain Rescue Team, who do a great job of keeping us safe in the hills entirely on the basis of voluntary donations.
So, if you fancy a spot of Peak District walking for a good cause, it isn't too late to enter. The cost is £8 in advance, or £10 on the day, and just in case you need the warning, map reading skills and suitable clothing are essential. That's waterproof jackets or broke judging by the summer we've had this year:-)
Where and When?
Place: Langsett Barn, time: 8am for walkers, 10am for runners, date: Saturday 6th October.
