One for your diary with the news that the Haltwhistle Walking Festival
in Northumberland runs from Friday
9 October until Sunday 18 October with a full programme of
walks including a three-day Reivers' Trail.
Run by local people, walking festivals in Haltwhistle run twice a year
and guided walks are arranged to suit a spread of ages and abilities at
a reasonable price. The highlight of this year's autumn festival is a
three-day Border Reivers' Route starting from Hermitage Castle in
Newcastleton and finishing in Haltwhistle.
There's the option to walk one, two or all three of the days. And if
you fancy something a little less ambitious, there's plenty of scope
with short nature-orientated walks, walks to Hadrian's Wall and beyond
and our personal favourite, an eight-mile Real Ale walk. There's even a
chance to pick up 'The Dark Arts of Night Navigation'...
The full programme is available online and you can also book a place on
any of the walks via the web site at www.haltwhistle.org

I had the chance to meet up with Maconie and Radcliffe during their walk along the Hadrian's Wall footpath. Here we are outside the George Hotel in Chollerford just before they set out on the next section of the Wall. http://www.haltwhistle.org/page99.html
