Tune in for details of Devon's very own climbing festival this month.
One more for the diary with a heads up on Devon's Hard Rock
Fest which takes place on 18/19 August at Devon's biggest
dedicated indoor climbing wall, The Mill, South Molton with
sponsorship from Cotswold Outdoor.
Johnny Dawes, Mike Robertson and Steve McClure, three of the most
exciting and active climbers ever to emerge on the British scene,
will be giving Master Classes during the weekend and other tutors
will be on hand to offer help and advice to climbers of all ages and
abilities. There will also be demonstrations by climbing
professionals, illustrating different techniques and equipment,
lectures, competitions, slideshows and opportunities to buy new
kit.
Sarah Wythes, Assistant Manager at Cotswold Outdoor - below right
with event organiser Keith Crockford - is enthusiastic about the
event: 'The Hard Rock Fest programme is buzzing with energy and
we hope the varied activities mean there will be something for
everyone,' she says.
'Apart from the big climbing names that will be there, one of the
highlights of the weekend will be the Charity Auction taking place at
the After-Party on Saturday night. There are some big prizes,
including £400 worth of Berghaus kit from Cotswold, and all
proceeds will go to the Mountain Rescue.

'It has been great working with the team at Rock and Rapid
Adventures who are organising the event, and we are pleased to have
been able to sponsor the Hard Rock Fest with kit, shirts, prizes and
general advice and support. We are looking forward to welcoming
everyone to the event."
The festival is also scheduled to mark the completion of the Hard
Rock Challenge, the attempt by Richard Mayfield and Mark Stevenson to
climb all 50 of the featured routes from the classic climbers'
tick-list book Hard Rock in five weeks.
Tickets are £10 for a Day ticket, £15 for the
Saturday After-Party ticket and £30 for an all-inclusive Weekend
ticket. They can be purchased from Cotswold Outdoor on tel:
01392 878313. Camping facilities are also available.
