In case you hadn't heard, there are beeeeg storms forecast for
this evening with 80 mph winds, huge bucketloads of rain and all the
other things associated with tempests.
You can check out the full details on the BBC Weather Warnings
Page by clicking
here. The basics though are that it's due to start in the SW
before moving up the country and hitting the north on Friday. There
are also several flood warnings in force.
Our Sal doesn't set much store by weather forecasts, so you'll be
able to spot her cunningly disguised as a giant duck bobbing gently
up and down on the flood waters.
On a serious note, it's obviously sensible to avoid any sort of
gorge walking in these conditions and to be aware that during the
last period of heavy rain, some areas were severely hit. In the North
Yorks Moors for example, a number of bridges on popular walking
routes were damaged or even destroyed and sections of path collapsed
into the sea.
Pack your flippers this weekend...
Apropos of which, we're going to be reviving our popular weekend
weather roundup on Fridays, starting tomorrow, Friday, so you can
check out the likely conditions in all the popular hill areas.
