Hinkes Joins Ramblers...

No, he hasn't actually joined the Ramblers, but he's the subject of a feature in the second issue of their new magazine Walk, that's available for free perusal on ther Ramblers' Association web site as a taster.

If you're a Hinkes fan you'll know that he's out in Nepal right now tackling Dhaulagiri, the penultimate of the 14 8,000-metre peaks he needs to climb in order to become the first Britain to do them all. Here's what he says about reaching the sacred summit of Kangchenjunga, where climbers aren't allowed to step. Good Yorkshire common sense we reckon:

"If I get to the summit I will stop three feet short. I'm six foot, so my head will actually be above the summit.
