Hinkes Kangchenjunga Update
Challenge 8000 man Alan Hinkes battles the elements in his bid to become the first Briton to scale all 14 of the 8000-metre peaks.
We've been bringing you quick updates on Alan Hinkes's progress in his bid to become the first Briton to climb all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks, and the latest news involves somewhat of a set-back.
Treacherous conditions are causing problems for the Berghaus-sponsored Yorkshire mountaineer and continue to disrupt his attempt to tackle Kangchenjunga, the final mountain in his Challenge 8000 quest. A Swiss expedition has been forced to consider leaving the base camp to return to Kathmandu. Alan however, is holding strong and plans to wait it out. Weather permitting, he may make another attempt this week.
He's not short on determination and stamina and we wish him all the best throughout the next stages. More news from Alan as soon as we have it.
We'll be keeping you up to date on Alan's progress. For more details see the previous OM articles linked below and the Berghaus site at www.berghaus.com
