More autumnal live lecture show dates, this time from 8000-metre peak topping Brit' Alan Hinkes, plus we caught up with the man for an update on his latest plans.

Alan Hinkes, the first Briton to climb all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks is on tour with his live Tales From The Top show and we have the dates for you.

It should be unmissable for anyone with an interest in mountains and mountaineering and a combination of Alan's blunt Yorkshire talking, video and slides always make for an entertaining and inspirational evening.

In the show, the Berghaus-sponsored climber talks about his outstanding achievement and takes a look back over his mountaineering career which has been dominated by his Challenge 8000 project which took 18 years to complete.

Extreme high altitude mountaineering with its combination of lack of oxygen, potentially deadly weather and objective dangers like avalanche take a massive amount of determination, skill and fitness and Alan talks about both the highs and the lows.

What's Next?

Purely by coincidence we bumped into the man himself at a trade show yesterday and pumped him for the latest information.

He told us that Challenge 8000 had fulfilled him in mountaineering terms and that anything else he accomplishes now is a 'bonus'. Meanwhile he's sorting out a deal for a photographic-based book chronicling his climbing career, living the celebrity high life - we think he was joking there - and, of course lecturing.

What's next? All Alan would say is that he has a lot of irons in the fire, so watch this space....
