Top mountaineer Alan Hinkes, the first Briton to climb all 14 of the world's 8000-metre peaks, has been lined up to present the 2008 OUTDOORSmagic Awards at this year's OS Outdoors Show in Birmingham later this week.

Alan's experience of high altitude cake-making should stand
him in good stead at the OM Awards.

OUTDOORSmagic editor Jon Doran commented:

'We reckon Alan is a spot-on choice to present this year's über-prestigious OM Awards. Not only is he one of Britain's best known mountaineers with a superb record of high altitude ascents, he's also passionate about mountains and mountaineering both at home and abroad.

'Last time I saw Alan he was fresh from opening a fish and chip shop in his native Northallerton, so we're confident he has the temperament to cope with the big occasion.'

Voting Closes 10 March - Win Prizes...

If you haven't voted in this year's awards, there's still time and you could win one of several great Anquet prizes or a pair of tickets to the show where you can see the presentation of the Awards live on Sunday 16 March at the Cumberland Arms.

The Awards are your chance to give your seal of approval to your favoutite outdoors brands, products, places and people. So what are you waiting for, head over to the Awards Voting Page now!

OUTDOORSmagic At The Show!

The good news is that this year we're going to be manning a joint stand with Anquet just across from the very lovely Cumberland Arms pub area - how convenient is that?

We'll be running a very special competition with Anquet at the show and we may also have some good news about a very handy new site feature. If you're there, drop by and say hello.

Don't forget we have a special show ticket offer which could save you £12 over the price of a pair of tickets bought on the day.
