Two hoaxers who lied about a friend being lost on a mountain triggered a major rescue operation last night. Mad stuff.

An extraordinary story from South Wales where two men have been cautioned by police after claiming that they had become separated from a friend on a snow-covered mountain.

The men's story triggered a major rescue operation involving an RAF helicopter, which was finally called off in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police described the men's actions as 'beyond belief' and warned that hoaxers could be arrested in future.

Weird stuff. For full details see the BBC Wales web site.

Let off far too lightly. Chuck them in pokie for a week or so - that will put off any other sphincter-brains out there.
