A quick heads up on the new new Hope
Valley Adventure Film Festival, which takes place on Saturday 27 February
in the central Peak District.
Based at the Hope Valley College, the event feature more than 20
award-winning films, three lectures, a mountain art exhibition,
mini-bouldering competition and - it says here - 'great food and beer'.
It's all in a good cause too, with proceeds going to the college.
The event's being supported by the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival -
ShAFF - and features two best of ShAFF 2009 packages, plus two sessions
designed for kids and 'teenagers and grown ups who wish they were still
kids'.
Subject matter includes climbing, mountain biking and paddling plus
lots more - interestingly, tucked away in the Youth Adventure Film - Package 2 is
'Alone on the Wall' which won the Best Climbing and Grand Prize awards
at Kendal last year.
Headlining the lecture programme is Sheffield local and top alpinist,
Ian Parnell who'll be talking about new routing in Scotland, alpine
adventures and guiding Ran Fiennes on Everest - above - all illustrated
with some of Ian's stunning photography.
Should be a cracking day and ideal for mixing up with some walking,
climbing or mountain biking in the local area.
