All things adventure travel including speakers, seminars and a ticket offer at Olympia this month.
No sooner has one outdoors-ish show closed its doors than another one hoves into view over the horizon this time in the form of the 2012 Adventure Travel Show which takes place at London's Olympia over 28-29 January.
The show pretty much does what it says on the can, being all about adventure travel. As you'd expect, there's the standard mix of stands, speakers, workshops and seminars.
Speakers include the usual gaggle of show meeja luvvies like Ben Fogle, who, to be fair, has travelled a bit since that Scottish island thing on telly, Charley Boorman – discovered by Ewan McGregor and now a full-time riding about media pro – and Benedict Allen. Also present is blonde seven summits climber Annabelle Bond.
Head and shoulders above the rest however, is Doug Scott, legendary mountaineer who will at the show both days talking about both big wall climbing and his involvement in the classic Everest SW face expedition.
Also worth a look is Nick Crane, who has an extraordinary personal history of exploring both abroad and, more recently, closer to home, most recently on the BBC Coast series.
Along with the various talks there are also photography and travel-writing seminars, with tuition from professionals like photographer Paul Harris and varous full-time travel writers including Wanderlust editor Dan Linstead.
And finally, a whole array of travel operators and information services will be on hand to fire your travelling imagination.
