Get a ladder and peep over the top of Christmas and you can just make out the Outdoors Show in the midst of January...

Plenty of scope for tryinug climbing, though maybe not quite at this level.
Lots of expert demos scheduled too.

A quick heads-up on The Outdoors Show 2012, which is only a few weeks away now and takes place at ExCel in London from 12-15 January.

The show, say the organisers, will provide opportunities to buy the latest kit at 'great prices' alongside free 'have a go' attraction, guest speakers and more. Not only that, but the same ticket will also include entry toThe Active Travel Show, The London Bike Show and the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show, t

Speakers

There's a wide spread of speakers appearing on the Motorola Main Stage at the show with names lined up includingKev Reynolds, Paddy Dillon, Cameron McNeish and David Lindo. Janet Street Porter's set to make an appearance too, when she presents the Ramblers WALK Awards.

Then there's the  Finlandia Vodka Travel & Adventure Stage – we unaccountably like the sound of that – which will host adventurers and explorers from Shipwreck Hunter David Mearns to World record breaking adventurers Richard Parks and Ed Stafford.

There'll be highlights from the Banff Mountain Film Festival and last but not least, floppy-haired castaway Ben Fogle will be the star attraction on the opening day of the show.

Have A Go Yourself

There's a whole new Climbing Village feature, which sounds like Ambridge repopulated by rock jocks, but is actually a mix of climbing and bouldering walls and more climbing-orientated attractions.

Go Ape are going to be there as well complete with a 150-metre zipwire, which we're confidently predicting the kids will love, plus Maverick Slacklines will be on hand to demontrate the activity and let you try it for yourself.

What else? There's a Photography Village with an exhibition from experts Andy Rouse and Joe Cornish in conjunction with Paramo plus a spread of speakers including landscape legend Colin Prior.

Food too including a farmers' market and, last but not least, if you're considering working in the outdoors, Careers in the Outdoors, run by oudoorstaff.co.uk, will give you all the information you need to kickstart your career.

From the sponsors page:
Each month TGO is packed with over 130-pages of thought-provoking articles, exhilarating routes and outstanding photography to inspire your next adventure.

Not this month - exactly 130 pages - 30+ pages of advertising.  That makes about 100 pages of thought-provoking articles, exhilarating routes and outstanding photography to inspire your next adventure.

It normally has around 130 pages but this month I'm told I'm getting the extra 19 page Outdoors Show Guide free!  Big deal!

The mags improved of late but the BS isn't needed. Shame the forum on their website is in a mess. Can someone have a word with them if they're going!
