New north-eastern based adventure race event gets off to sunny start.

The first ever iROC race at the weekend hit the jackpot in the weather lottery with gorgeous conditions contributing to what was apparently a cracking event.

The new north-eastern adventure race weekend which was sponsored by local outdoor footwear specialist inov-8 and took place in the challenging terrain of a disused quarry and former cement works site in the heart of the Durham Dales, part of the largely unsung North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We don't have full results but we can tell you that the winner of the initial 13km fell run was Morgan Donnelly. That was just one of a mix of fell races, mountain bike time trials and orienteering that made up the complete event over the weekend.
