There's an interview with Touching The Void author Joe Simpson on
the NTL World web site that's worth a quick read.
In the short question and answer article, Simpson says he 'nearly
fell off his sofa' when Jonathan Ross included the film in his picks
for the Oscars, explains the appeal of the book as an 'everyman
story' tackling 'the big questions of loneliness, death, pain,
friendship, betrayal, trust.'
He also explains the title of the book, talks about the making of
the film and Simon Yate's personality clash with director Kevin
Mcdonald and finally reveals that he and his climbing partner are
still trying for the Eiger Nordwand: 'I can see us at 73 staggering
up to the foot of the Eiger on Zimmer frames.'

Thanks to OMer Ben Hammond for spotting the interview in the first
