One for the diary with the news that internationally acclaimed outdoor photographer John Beatty is touring the UK with his show Wild Vision: Images and Stories from the Wilderness this autumn and winter.

Beatty has been taking outstanding nature, travel and adventure photographs for over 20 years now in over 38 different countries. He's spent seven months spent in Antarctica with the British Antartic Survey, a winter in Spitzbergen where he surveyed 350 kilometres of untracked arctic mountains and glaciers and a four hundred mile unsupported sled traverse of the Greenland Icecap.

Before becoming a professional photographer, John cultivated a passion for rock climbing in Britain and the Alps, later climbing virgin peaks in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh on the Kashmir/North India border and making the 3rd Winter Traverse of Cuillin Ridge, Skye.

His love of climbing and photography lead to John capturing some of the key moments of the development of rock-climbing as a sport. He spent 3 years photographing Ron Fawcett, including his key development of Malham and Gordale and photography during the making of 'The Fingertip Phenomenum'. He photographed the developmental explorations of Ben Moon, Martin ‘Basher’ Atkinson and Chris Gore, and his commercial photo shoots have included capturing Ian Vickers on Gogarth and recording John Dunne’s controverisal climb, The Big Issue in Pembroke.

Wild Vision is a chance to hear about his extraordinary life and see some outstanding images along the way.

John will be playing at 19 venues this autumn/winter. For links to each venues website to book online, please visit www.speakersfromtheedge.com/lecture-tours. Please note booking fees may apply for online bookings.

Hi, I am gutted to miss the Bolton venue as on Friday 9th October I will be on my way to North Wales. Hopefully if the weather holds-up a few friends and yours truly will be walking up Snowdon, with camera in hand (back-pack realy)
