There's still time
for aspiring outdoors film makers to get an entry in for this year's Kendal Mountain
Festival Adventure Film
Academy, a brilliant opportunity to learn from top
professionals in the adventure film business and make your own film in
the process.
Around 20% of previous
students now work
in the film industry
Mentors on the course have worked on many BAFTA and EMMY award-winning
films, including Touching The Void and since the academy started, more
than 400 people have attended the various workshops.
Many of their short films have been shown to huge audiences on
prime-time BBC1, at Banff, Telluride and Trento film festivals, and
worldwide via youTube. Tellingly, over 20% of those who have attended
the AFA now work within the film industry.
You can sign up for individual workshops over the week beginning 16
November or sign up for the whole week. The week’s programme
comprises two days of workshops on film-making and editing, a film
masterclass, then finally the ‘48-hour film marathon’, the results
of which are entered into the main Film Festival competition.
There’s also a special Adventure Filmmaker’s Summit on Friday 20th
November to find out how to develop AFA skills into a career. The day
brings together filmmakers, industry experts and equipment specialists.
The workshops are on a paid-for basis, but it's a fantastic opportunity
to learn from some of the best in the business and make your own first
film along the way,
Dates are 16-18 November with the 48-hour marathon 18-20 November.
Places can be booked online or through the box office on 01539 725133.
