The
full lecture and event programme for this year's Kendal Mountain Fim
Festival is out and up on the festival web site.
Big Names
There are some legendary names coming along as well. Yvon
Chouinard, the innovative ice climbing genius who invented the curved
axe picks that revolutionised winter climbing before founding
Patagonia and Black Diamond is flying in to both lecture and lead a
discussion group. Himalayan veteran Kurt Diemberger will be there too
as will Jeff Lowe along with Heinz Zak, Maria Coffey, John Dugger
and Dr Charles Houston.
Top British lecturers include Alan Hinkes, Rob Collister, Alastair
Lee, Jim Curran, John Porter, Charlie Clarke, David Hamilton, Al
Powell, Jon Bracey and Nick Bullock.
And that's all on top of the 60-odd mountain films that make up
the core of the festival. Also new for this year is the Kendal
Mountain Book Festival with debates, readings and book signings
throughout the week.
Extreme Film School Reminder
Also a reminder that applications for the Extreme Film School, a
master class for budding outdoor film makers, close on 21 Septmber,
so if you want to show your class, you'd best get moving quickly.
