Just a rapid reminder that the Kendal Mountain Film Festival
has released its complete film programme for the 2005 festival -
just as well really since it kicks off in just over a week's time
running from 12-20 November with the main event taking place
over the final weekend of 19/20 November.
This year's programme's looking good with highlights including the
premier of a new film telling the story of meteoric Scottish
mountaineer Dougal Haston, Siachen - the story of the mountain
war between India and Pakistan in the Himalaya and Storm the
latest film from Alastair Lee, maker of the multiple award-winning
Twice Upon A Time In Bolivia.
There are some remarkable films tracking the effects of
globalisation on mountain farming communities -it says here -
including The Last Race and Paving Shangri La -
as well as a fantastic selection of high adrenaline climbing, base
jumping, skiing and kayaking films including Depth Charge and
Rerturn2Sender.
Then of course there are the accompanying book and mountain arts
festivals plus much, much more.
