First chance to see more than 20 mountain films at this year's epic Kendal Mountain Festival.
The countdown to this year's
Kendal
Mountain Festival is well and truly underway with less
than three weeks to go before it all kicks off on the weekend of 20-23
November, 2008. And now you can view clips from some of the 75 featured
films on the festival web site.
There are actually more than 20 premieres at this year's festival if
you count world, British and European debuts. They include
A Life In Adaptation,
a film about alpinist and mountain artist Andy Parkin's life and career
success despite the disabities suffered through climbing accidents.
Then there's the profile of Catherine Destivelle,
Au Delà des Cimes
which features a one-off voiceover by Ming The Merciless
himself, Brian Blessed and
The
Sky Pirates of Hoy; the story behind the first BASE jump
from The Old Man of Hoy by Tim Emmett, Gus Hutchinson-Brown and Roger
Holmes.
The above are all world premieres, but the British premieres look just
as mouth watering. In particular, there's
Ama Dablam, Beyond The Void
featuring and presented by 'the other climber', Simon Yates.
And multi award-winning film maker, Alastair Lee, will be presenting
his latest release,
On
Sight - review here soon - with a full lecture on the
making of the film. And of course, there's lots more beside including
the International Festival of Mountain Literature and the final verdict
on this year's Boardman Tasker Award.
