The Keswick mountain festival will be bigger and better for 2008 thanks to increased support from local beer outfit, Jenning Brewery.

The 2008 event will be officially known as the 'Cumberland Ale Keswick Mountain Festival' and feature an expanded programme aimed at both experienced outdoors folk and novices.

'Without doubt the Keswick area is THE centre for the outdoor enthusiast,'
- Chris Bonington

The company's involvement has, not surprisingly, been welcomed by the festival organisers. Martin Lankester says: "We're delighted that Jennings has agreed to increase its sponsorship of the festival. It will enable the 2008 event to be even bigger and better than this year's and help us to make the festival the UK's leading celebration of the great outdoors."

New features at the festival will include a Bike Village organised by local shop, Keswick Mountain Bikes including coaching from skills outfit Cycle Active and an Activity Base on Crow Park where visitors will be able to have a go at climbing, raft racing and a zip-wire.

Other attractions ill include talks by the likes of Sir Chris Bonington - who is also the patron of the festival - Doug Scott, Andy Kirkpatrick, Mick Fowler and others. There will also be a new set of guided walks giving people the chance to find out more about activites like dry stone walling, fell farming, footpath conservation and landscape photography.

The festival runs from 14 May to 18 May 2008 and you can find more information at www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk.
