Lakes By Night Exhibition Comes To Brum
Moonlit Cumbrian fells visit altitude-starved Midlanders...

Midlands-based Omers who are feeling the lack of altitude and open spaces in their vicinity should make their way to the Three White Walls Gallery in Birmingham some time before 2nd March.
It’s displaying the work of Henry Iddon - we’ve mentioned him a few times before on OM and we’ve also whiled away a happy hour or three on his website but shhh, don’t tell anyone!
Henry set out in the autumn of 2006 to photograph the Lake District by night, after most hikers, farmers, and sheep, are tucked up in bed. He says that photos of the good old Cumbrian fells are mostly taken during the day and that cities tend to be the focus of night time photography. But looking at the fells at night, when the odd patch of light is the only sign of human presence, puts them in a new perspective.
If you visit his website you can browse his photos, all linked to their location on a map of the Lakes, and drool over the eerie, silent hillsides. Bear in mind that the temptation to go on a wild camping trip, or a photography session at the least, is a likely consequence:-)
And if you’re close enough to visit Birmingham then you can see his photos in the flesh too – visit Three White Walls for details.
