Lakes Festival Of Climbing Last Weekend

First time BMC event to promote less obvious crags kicks off this Friday in the Duddon Valley.

A quick reminder that this weekend - 13-15 June 2008 - is the date of the BMC Lakes Festival of Climbing based in the Duddon Valley.

It's the first ever one and is intended to promote climbing in the Lakes away from the 'obvious honeypots of Langdale and Borrowdale'. All you have to do is turn up with your gear and your climbing mates, register at the BMC gazebo at Turner Hall farm and go climbing with local advice from the BMC team plus guide books and topos.

Simple eh and conveniently located for easy access to the Newfield Inn where food, beer and music are all arranged and ready to go along with a Celebrity Climbing Quiz. Then on Sunday you can do it all again.

It's a great idea and the crags locally are superb and located in a beautiful and relatively quiet location plus it's only an hour's yomp over to the superb Dow Crag if the weather is good. Of course, if you're not a climber then you may well want to go somewhere else instead this weekend, but on the whole, cragrats ain't so bad.

We could go on, but you can find all the information you need at www.lakesfestivalofclimbing.co.uk.
