Are you the new Leo Dickinson or a wannabe Alastair Lee? Kendal's Extreme Film School is your chance to convert all that raw potential into a two-minute action epic, but you need to act fast...
One of the most exciting features of the Kendal Mountain Festivals is
the
Extreme Film School and the good news is that there are
still
places available for aspiring outdoor film-makers this
year, 2006 for time travellers...
It's a brilliant opportunity to learn from experienced film-makers
and here's how it works:
First The Workshops...
In the weeks leading up to the festival, participants take part in
three days of professionally-run workshops designed as an
integrated course in adventure film-making, though you don't have to
do all three.
The workshops cover the basics of making a short film, using a DVD
camera and finally producing and editing and cost £75
each. If you do all three you pay only £195 and students
get a whopping 66.6 per-cent off and pay just £25 per
workshop.
Dates for the day-long workshops are 13, 14 and 15 November.
Then The 48-hour Film Marathon...
The next step is to take the skills you've learned and produce a
two-minute adventure film over the course of 48 hours. There are
limited supplies of cameras, sound equipment and editing computers
available for use, but you can also use your own kit.
On top of that, there will be expert advice and mentoring through
the 48 hours, so you're not flying blind. Cost of entry is
£75 per person or £40 for students.
Finally the judging...
Finally the competing films will be shown to festival audiences
over the Film Festival weekend and judged. To give you an idea of the
standard of last year's entries, you can watch them online
at
www.mountainfilm.co.uk - last year's winner,
'Thrill
Seekers' - bracken sledging anyone? - was entered in the
Banff Mountain Film Festival :-)
Entry
Deadline for entries is the end of October 2006 and you can find
