A bit of a Kendal
Mountain Festival and Asgard
Project film reminder - the premiere of the latter on
Friday evening has now sold out, but the good news is that there are
three further showings during the weekend as part of the film
competition.
In other news from the festival, Stephan Siegrist has cancelled his
lecture for personal reasons and refunds are available if you've
already bought a ticket to see him. The good news is that Andy
Kirkpatrick has stepped into the breach and will be hitting the podium
on Saturday at 2.30pm.
The Asgard Project looks to be near unmissable and follows Leo Houlding
and team's recent expedition to Baffin Island complete with BASE jump
descent and serious, sub-zero. big-walling. See a taster of the film's
intro:
The film was produced by multiple Kendal award winner Alastair Lee and
we wouldn't bet against him landing another gong for his collection. If
he does, it'll be arguably his hardest earned. We had a brief chat with
Al - full interview to follow shortly - and the actual filming of the
climb sounds harrowing with incredibly slow progress in unexpectedly
savage conditions against a background of pressure to produce a
stunning film in time for Kendal.
Did he succeed? One way to find out, get yourself up to the festival on
what promises to be a typically wet and windy Lakes weekend.
