Last Day For Scottish Post Buses

Royal Mail axes five rural post bus services including Applecross to Torridon route.

It's a sad day for Scotland's local post bus service with today seeing the last journeys on five out of seven of the rural routes including the Torridon to Applecross service.

Post buses combine mail deliveries with passenger services in remote areas providing a crucial service both for local people and for walkers and other visitors who are reliant on public transport.

The Royal Mail says that the five services being axed are simply not financially viable.

But first day for Council Buses! See: Council to replace post buses

Never used the Post Bus Service myself but there were many more a few years ago. One ran from Invergarry to Kinloch Hourn three days a week and as far as Kingie the rest of the week, except Sundays of course.
