Last Foot And Mouth Paths Opening A Year On...

Hard to believe, but it's only now that the last paths closed due to foot and mouth are due to re-open Northumbria. Mad or what?

Hard to believe I know, but according to a news item on the Ramblers' Association web site, the last paths closed by foot and mouth restrictions are due to re-open as late on as next Monday 23 September.

The three paths at Falstone in the Northumberland National Park have been closed since the last reported case of foot and mouth in the area a year ago. Anomalies in the laws governing closures mean that where no re-stocking of livestock takes place, rights of way are not allowed to be used for 12 months.

And if that seems barking mad to you, we wouldn't necessarily disagree.
