Here's a quick heads-up for anyone of a Scottish persuasion who's
going to be in Chamonix for the start of February, 2008, with
the news that the Chamonix Tourist Board is organising a special
Burns Night celebration.

Get that up your kilt...

The event on 1 February is partly a recognition of the importance of
British visitors to Chamonix and a good excuse to feast on Scottish
salmon and haggis before getting down to a genuine ceilidh band which
is being flown in specially from Edinburgh for the occasion. And of
course Burns Night wouldn't be Burns night without a bag-piper and
singer.
It won't just be Scots there mind, it's intended as a
multi-cultural celebration and the address to the haggis will even be
translated into French - the word 'haggis' apparently may well derive
from the Fench 'hachis', meaning minced meat.
And just to add some spice to the occasion, the Six Nations Rugby
cup kicks off on the 3 rd February -; first match: France v Scotland,
so you can expect some friendly rivalry too.
The event will take place at the Hotel Prieure and cater for 250
persons. Tickets are 35 euros and you should be able to buy them via
www.chamonix.com.
