A man from Margaret Thatcher's home town of Grantham, Lincolnshire has been rescued after going missing in the Caringorms in bad conditions.

And when we say bad, we mean bad, there were reportedly gust of 120 mph recorded on the Ben yesterday. According to this story on Ananova, the 38 year old was located by Aberdeen Mountain Rescue team at around 3,000ft on Lairig An Laoigh in the Cairngorms.

With visibility reportedly down to 30 metres, Grampian Police are quoted as saying it will take the rescue party around two hours to reach Braemar. The BBC reports that the man was benighted after going out yesterday - Monday - with winds in the area gusting at up to 140 mph.

The operation involved five mountain rescue teams and an RAF helicopter and the man was praised for snowholing overnight. Apparently when he was found he was walking out towards safety. He also had several days' supply of food and is reported to be well.

We're not going to jump to conclusions, but possibly a poor choice of day to go walking in the Scottish mountains.
