More scary stuff from the nice Cumbria Tourism people who brought you singing sheep ringtones and other aural atrocities, this time in the form of a hip-hop version of a Wordsworth poem performed by a squirrel called MC Nuts, the mascot for Ullswater Steamers.

The new version of 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' has been released on the 200th anniversary of the original and is designed to appeal to a yoof audience thanks to its, erm, more current interpretation of the famous poem about daffodils.

The Telegraph web site has the full words of the original and the updated interpretation...

'I wandered lonely along as if I was a cloud
That floats on high over vales and hills
When all at once I looked down and saw a crowd
And in my path there was a host of golden daffodils so check it'

A Cumbria Tourism spokesman commented: "Wordsworth's Daffodils poem has remained unchanged for 200 years.

"To keep it alive for another two centuries we wanted to engage the YouTube generation who want modern music and amusing video footage on the web.

"Hopefully this will give them a reason to connect with a poem published in 1807 as well as with the works of Wordsworth and the stunning landscape of the Lake District."

It's all a bit scary. You can find more details along with a link to the video of the new song at www.telegraph.co.uk so, erm, check it and respect to MC Nuts, he da man. Or maybe squirrel.

Not normaly my scene. Being a fussy old G from the 1940's. I preffer Border folk ballads etc but I heard this on Look North(our local television station) tonight and I like it,don't know if it is cool what ever that means but I do like it. Maybe if it is recorded with something else I might even buy it.

I'm currently selling up and moving out of the Lakes because I don't like the way the place is prostituting itself.

I almost wouldn't mind if Cumbria was going the high class hooker route, hanging round in expensive hotel lobbies for wealthy businessmen. Unfortunately the county seems to have turned into a crack whore, selling its arse on street corners to anyone who'll pay a few quid.

I'm sure that if MC Wordsworth started pimping his bitches on the streets of Ambleside, he'd be applauded in the News and Star as a local entrepreneur creating much needed new job opportunities in the area. Never mind the quality, feel the width....

The Lake District has always been an industrial area but like Tyneside and other industrial areas the industri is changing. Now it is low class tourism of the B & B sort.
As for people who think it is a Whore house (I admitt that in my younger days I was in a few of the proper ones)maybe it is better that they do get out and let those who love the Lake District make a living in it but before they go let them come honest and say how much money they have made on the move.
