This week's 'Friday morning story on a Wednesday' award goes to
Wayfayrer for a release detailing how Tom Cruise will, apparently,
soon be sampling their ready meals.
Apparently the pint-sized actor and climber was given samples of
the company's best selling 'Beans and Sausages' and 'Spotted Dick'
dishes by TV presenter Jonathan Woss during a recent interview.
Cruise intends to attempt Everest after finishing the filming of
Mission Impossible III - an adventure movie - in Rome and Woss was
clearly keen to make sure he was properly supplied with the necessary
calories.
We're told that Cruise originally intended to climb the mountain
and fulfill a childhood ambition as part of the same Jagged Globe
team that included polar explorer Ran Fiennes this spring.
Unfortunately filming commitments meant he had to postpone his
attempt.
So, brace yourself for a rash of Cruise and Everest stories any
time soon. Joking aside, apparently after starting climbing a few
years ago as part of his preparations for the second Mission
Impossible film - remember that rather impressive reverse dyno? - our
Tom has become quite a serious mountaineer with some respectable
peaks to his credit.
Oh yeah, back to Wayfayrer - they produce ten meat and two
vegetarian ready meals and three deserts in an easy to eat, 'wet'
format. We've used them briefy at high altitude and while they're low
hassle, they're also relatively heavy and not big enough.
