More details of Montane's limited edition mountain rescue fund-raising promotion.
We told you about
Montane's
innovative new Limited Edition
Mountain
Rescue range and their plan to raise
£50,000 for MRTs last month and now we have more details.
The jist of it is that Montane is producing a one-off range of limited
edition kit in distinctive red on black colour schemes with the entire
margin from each garment being donated to mountain rescue.
That means two thirds of the price of the garment goes to a great cause
and, as a bonus, you'll pay slightly less than you would for a standard
Montane eqivalent where one exists.
It's all been made possible by donations of fabrics from top technical
brands Polartec, Pertex and Entrant DT and PrimaLoft, so good for them.
There are five garments in the range, all proper technical outdoors
kit, and prices will range from £30 to £100. The
distinctive black and red kit will be on sale at this year's Outdoors
Show at the NEC and also direct from Montane's web site.
Garments include a Stretch Entrant waterproof shell jacket, a special
edition of the Primaloft ECO-filled Prism jacket, a simple microfleece
top and, most interesting of all, a pant made from a stretch Polartec
PowerShield that isn't even available in other garments until 2011.
Tim Butcher of Montane explains the motivation behind the initiative:
'We are acutely aware of the excellent work that Mountain Rescue
England & Wales do and wanted to offer some financial support
as they rely on donations for 100% of their funding.
'For a relatively small business like Montane, the only way we could
raise a really significant sum was to work with our component suppliers
and factories to maximise the donation per garment; as a result this is
the biggest ever single fundraising initiative for Mountain Rescue
England & Wales.
'We believe that the combination of an excellent technical product at
an attractive price coupled with the charity donation element will
prove to be highly desirable for consumers and we will sell out
rapidly.'
You can expect to see a marketing campaign kicking off soon while point
of sale publicity 'depicting a near-naked man will be displayed at the
Outdoors Show to attract sales of the garments'...
