Yet more new routes
on the OUTDOORSmagic
routes system, both from members and OM
routes editor,
Dave Mycroft, this week, Dow Crag features in both walking and
scramblng routes, there's also a cracking Grade 3 scramble on Harrison
Stickle and two Snowdonian classics.
All OUTDOORSmagic routes, whether site routes or user-contributed
include downloadable GPS data, so you can follow them on your GPS or
transfer them to mapping software and a real OS map showing the route.
Dow Crag from Seathwaite is
a lovely mountain walk from Seathwaite, making use of the Walna Scar
Road to approach Dow Crag from the west then turning to take in
Seathwaite Tarn on the return.
Easy
Terrace on Dow Crag is a classic climber's
descent on this stunning mountain crag that's also a grade 3 scramble
and no pushover. There's lots of exposure particularly high up and a
helmet should be worn to guard against falling rock, but generally the
rock is sound and it's a fantastic route up a stunning high mountain
crag.
Pinnacle Ridge, St Sunday Crag is
a total lakeland classic Grade 2 scramble that takes you ono the broad
back of St Sunday Crag via a stunning and - surprise, surprise -
pinnacled ridge. Fantatic situations and solid rock.
Tryfan
Bach, Snowdonia A
quick and easy walk in from the A5, the grade 3 scramble of Tryfan Bach
is an ideal introduction if you're moving up from grade 2s. Clean solid
rock in a glorious location that can form a prelude to one of the
Heather Terrace routes below - on Tryfan's stunning east Face.
Harrison Stickle highest
of the Langdale Pikes and a distinctive Langdale landmark, the east
side of the mountain offers a choice of routes at all difficulties.
Loads More Besides
There's
a load more routes to choose from all over the over UK, recently added
user routes include walks on the South Downs, Dartmoor, the Peak
District around Buxton and the Yorkshire Dales.
