K2 Hollywood epic Vertical Limit is now playing

Vertical Limit, Hollywood's latest take on mountaineering, is on general release in the UK now.

The film centres on a ficticious high altitude rescue on K2 and was filmed in New Zealand's Southern Alps - more information from our previous articles below - and features a cameo appearance from American mountaineering legend Ed Viesturs.

We haven't seen it yet, but Stateside reports suggest that, like Stallone's Cliffhanger, it should raise the hackles of authenticity-conscious climbers everywhere, but then come on, it's Hollywood, it's entertainment and let's be honest, it's aimed at the general public who wouldn't know the difference between K2 and Geoff Capes.

Check out the Scoot cinema section for a venue near you or follow the links from our previous articles below to see the jazzy trailer on line.
