MWIS, the excellent Mountain Weather Information Service,
has begun a rolling redesign of its web site with more improvements
promised.
The
most obvious change so far is a funky new logo for the site - right -
which is now fully funded by the Scottish Government as far as
Scottish forecasts go, but that's just the start.
In the next few weeks, the site will also get a clickable area map
to help you select the correct forecast, availability of the
forecasts online as well as in downloadable PDF form and access for
internet-enabled mobiles and PDSs, which should be invaluable on the
hill, on a multi-day wild camping trip for example.
We've found the MWIS forecasts to be consistently the most
relevant and reliable for hill-goers with week-round Scottish
forecasts, six days a week Lakes ones and Thursday to Saturday
forecasts covering the weekend for Snowdonia and the Peak.
Good stuff. See www.mwis.org.uk.
