Mystery Nude Hiker 'Tackling Pennine Way'
Police and National Park staff believe that a mystery man, or possibly two mystery men, is attempting to hike the Pennine Way starkers. Don't forget the sun block...

Apparently one, or possibly two men 'with athletic builds and
all-over tans' are on their way to completing the first nude traverse
of the Pennine Way.
In a story in today's Guardian, the rather appropriately named
Martin Wainwright, reports that National Park staff in the Dales and
police are collating sightings of a naked man complete with a large
pack - ooh er - along the classic long distance path and have
concluded that the man is indeed heading along the route.
Rather ominously police have warned that part of the route is
occasionally used for police dog training... You can read the full
unexpurgated story from today's Guardian here.
Meanwhile could this
be the man police are looking for? Hmmm... A tad scary.
"Hiking with your kit off can be great" he says on his web page.
"There's the warmth of the sunshine and the coolness of the breeze
against naked flesh, the physical sensations as your body parts
swing unrestrained by cloth and clothes. Muscles rippling on view,
sweat running."
Noooo, this is all too scary, if you want to know how scary, try
searching for naked hiking on Google.
Meanwhile, if you're tempted, please don't forget the sun block.
Discuss this story
I once went hiking in Lapland, and most of the huts are by a cold lake and some have a sauna. The convention there is the strip off after your day's hike and leap into the lake and then dash into the sauna. They have a different attitude to nudity there; more to do with freedom. I wouldn't dare do that here though. Too many letchy creeps.
