The infamous 'naked rambler' is back in the news again having been
arrested in the Highlands just four hours after walking free from
court.
Steven Gough, from Hampshire is walking from Lands End to John
o'Groats butt neckid in an attempt to liberalise the draconian laws
governing naked rambling in the UK. He's been arrested lots of times
already - we'd tell you how many but really you don't care and we
don't care, so why bother - but nothing, including the onset of
winter, seems likely to stop him.
Gough is reportedly due to appear in court, yet again, today.
Ultimately Gough's continuing persecution seems like a colossal waste
of police and court time and of public money. Here on OM we don't
particularly want to go rambling in the nude, particularly given the
weather, and we don't think the prospect of naked winter
mountaineering in northern Scotland is particularly appealing, but
hey, hasn't this gone a bit too far? Why not let the guy finish his
walk...
