Naked Rambler Completes End To End Trek

With an impeccable sense of self preservation, the Naked Rambler yesterday completed his starkers raving bonkers 900-mile walk from Lands End to John O'Groats.

Stephen Gough's naked protest walk came to an end just in time to cheat the ferocious cold snap forecast to hit the UK early next week and, presumably, preserved him from some rather unpleasant frost nip possibilities. He celebrated with a bottle of champagne.

Gough has been arrested numerous times, 16 according to the Independent - all religiously documented by a prurient national media and, of course, OM - made several court appearances and has been imprisoned twice. His declared aim in making the walk was to campaign for the right to walk naked in the UK:

'This is just one step in the whole process of making people aware about our bodies. because we are so paranoid about them,' he said.

His mum thinks otherwise, reported in the Independent, she commented: 'I don't know where he gets this from - certainly not me. I am, and have always been, quite a conservative person. I did my best to persuade him not to go ahead with it, but he wasn't having it and once he had his mind set on doing this, I didn't really have a chance.'
