New BBC Series Journeys Round Britain's Coast

Coast is an epic 11,700 mile voyage around the coastline of Britain presented by Nicholas Crane and it comes with a web site compete with its own coastal walk section. Looks good.

Here's a quick heads up for you - there's a new TV series starting tonight called 'Coast'. Presented by Nicolas Crane, it's a journey around Britain's coastline.

The 13-part series starts at 9 pm on BBC2 tonight, Friday 22 July, with the first leg of the 11,700-mile journey covering the south coast from Dover round to Exmouth, so set your timer.

Just as interesting is the series web site which rather neatly both previews the next part of the series every week, but also contains details of a selection of coastal walks from right round the UK complete with detailed instructions, a lot of excellent background information and a stage by stage collection of excellent pictures from the walk for some of the walks.

No-one's pretending that they're epic LDP extravanganzas, mostly they're short and cultural, but it's a lovely idea and an easy to use taster to some of our amazing coastal walking that's often overlooked in favour of the mountains.

Looks like being an epic series :-)
