Just arrived on the OUTDOORSmagic forum is a shiny new Trip Reports section where you can write up your latest outings complete with images and links to route information if you choose.

OM Trip Reports

Right now it's just a simple forum section, so it's up to you how you organise things and what information you include, but to start things off, we suggest that the thread title is prefaced with 'TR' so it's obvious that it's a Trip Report and you include the area and sub area covered, so a thread might be titled: 'TR' - Lakes, Helvellyn Range. You can then add additional information in the summary, so maybe: 'Blood-curdling crossing of Striding Edge in winter conditions by frog'.

You can insert images and even YouTube videos into your reports as with all forum threads and, if you want to attach a GPX or other route data file for other members to use, we suggest you simply create a new route in the OM Routes Section and link to it which will create both an OS map of your route and a downloadable data file.

You can find the new section on the OUTDOORSmagic Forum and use this sticky thread to make suggestions on format and what else you'd like to see.

We reckon it should be a great addition to the site and we're looking forward to seeing what everyone gets up to.

The new 'Trip Reports' section of the forum is pretty much self-explanatory. It's there so you can add reports and images from your latest trips both in the UK and abroad. Right now it's just a simple forum section, but we may expand it in the future.

It would obviously make sense to title the thread with geographical information, so it's clear what's covered, but rather than us dicating what that is, we're open to suggestions.

Bear in mind, you can always add a route or GPX file to the Routes System and then link to it from your trip report so other people have access to the route data where relevant.

Initial thoughts maybe to preface all Trip Reports with TR, then area and sub area, you can use the decription field to add additional information, so a report on a recent trip to Helvellyn might read: TR: Lakes, Helvellyn area. The a description: 'Striding Edge in winter' or whatever else you'd like to add.

Suggestions? Fire away, it's your forum

Hi Jon,

thanks for starting this new section.

Just tried to put the first thread up and have hit a snag as it says the post is too long. Not sure what the best solution to this will be but it'll certainly make doing a report very guddly if we have to split it over multiple posts.

Any suggestions?

Hmmm.... I'll see if I can get the maximum forum post size extended.
