One for Irish OMers or anyone who fancies heading off across the
water in October with news of the first ever RAW Outdoors
Adventure Festival in Hillsborough., Co. Down from Wednesday 3
October until Saturday 6 October, 2007.
The
four-day festival is going to incorporate the Irish leg of the
Banff Film Festival World Tour, showcasing the best mountain
films from the top Canadian event, but that's just the start of
it.
Sir Rannulph Fiennes is going to be kicking off the
festival talking about his adventures in general and, in particular,
his recent ascent of the North Face of the Eiger - not bad for
someone who's scared of heights.
The Banff part of the event will be happening on 4/5
October with Andy Cave and Dawson Stellfox presenting some of the
favourites from this year's festival. It's also a chance to see the
premiere of Undeveloped a new film made by some of Ireland's
leading climbers and - according to the festival promoters - 'one of
the best climbing movies to have been made in the past few
years'.
And no outdoor festival would be complete without a chance to try
stuff for yourself, which is the point of the Family Adventure
Day where you can try kayaking or climbing, or simply take in one
of several guest speakers including Andy Cave, Tim Emmett, Neil
Gresham and Hannah Shields.
Lots more besides. You can find full details plus online ticketing
at www.irishadventurefestival.com.
