More dates for the diary with Heason Events relaunching their Sheffield
winter lecture series now called The
Lescar Lectures and with three dates between now and
Christmas.
Oct 12 - Stephen Venables
Top mountaineer and writer, Venables drops in on Sheffield
with highlights from his Banff award-winning autobiography, Higher Than
The Eagle Soars culminating in his oxygenless ascent of Everest.
Nov 10 - Kenton Cool
Kenton is one of Britain's leading alpinists with multiple ascents of
Everest under his belt as well as having guided Sir Rannulph Fiennes
successfully up the North Face of the Eiger.
Dec 14 - Adele Penington
Adele Pennington is a Sheffield based Mountaineer who made her dreams
come true by standing on the summit of Everest on the 23rd May 2008;
just to check it was not a complete dream she made another ascent of
Everest on the 20th May 2009 to make her the first British woman to
climb Everest twice.
After following a career as a chemistry teacher Adele changed tact and
decided to spend her life in the mountains rather than in the classroom
and now works for an expedition company Jagged Globe.
In the past twenty years Adele has amassed a formidable number of
mountaineering summits and is never without a future plan. Whether it
is walking in the Lake District or scaling the highest mountains in the
world Adele enthusiasm never dwindles and her attitude to her climbing
is never too serious.
Adele will be giving an inspirational talk about her life story and how
she made her dream of climbing Everest come true.
