New YHA Bunkhouse For The Brecon Beacons

A new place to crash in the Brecon Beacons opened this week, in the form of the YHA Llangattock Mountain bunkhouse - could be a handy stopping point for walkers and bikers on weekend trips to the National Park. Those with subterranean tastes will be the most pleased of all though, as the new hostel's situated close to the Llangattock Escarpment, which has one of the longest cave systems in the UK. All well and good if you like stunning rock formations, narrow spaces ... and the damp:-).

The hostel sleeps thirty in two, four and six-bedded rooms, all en-suite - it looks like 'bunkhouses' have gone up in the world:-). The damage for a night's stay is £18.50 for adults and £16 for under 18s, and you need to cater for yourself, unless you've booked food in advance. The speliologically-minded will be pleased to know it's possible to arrange caving instruction on site. Other activities might be on offer as well, for those who prefer to stay above ground, although it's worth checking first.
