Cicerone has launched what promises to be the first two in
a series of Lakeland Fellranger guidebooks that promise to be
a Wainwright for the 21st Century and they're also running an 'old
for new' swap deal for owners of older versions.
The
Lakeland Fellranger was originally launched by HarperCollins, but the
series has now been taken over by Cicerone with the first two updated
volumes out now. The two titles cover the Central Fells and Near
Eastern Fells and are written by Mark Richards.
And if the line drawings have a Wainwrightesque feel, that's
perhaps not suprising given that Richards was a personal friend of
the legendary guidebook writer. We've had a quick flick through and
they really do look the business with a good spread of routes, clear
maps, nice drawings and lots of evocative Lake District photos to
whet the appetite.
New For Old
Because Cicerone appreciates that some owners of the HarperCollins
versions may want to build a complete colour-coded library of all
eight books, they're running a special offer, where owners of the old
books can part exchange them for a half-price copy of the new revised
and updated volumes.
All they have to do is download an order form from the Cicerone
web site and send it, along with their old book direct to Cicerone.
They can then buy any one of the first four volumes at half price
plus £1 post and packing.
More Information
The first two books retail for £12.95. The next editions
cover the The Southern Fells and the Mid-Western Fells and are due
out in February 2009.
