Sorry to bang on about foot and mouth, but some good news for
once: restrictions on access for climbers and walkers are actually
being lifted in some parts of Scotland.
The north side of Ben Nevis, for example, is now open to climbers
and walkers provided they use two designated access points with
disinfectant baths and stay in the permitted area which includes the
classic north face cliffs where virtually all the winter routes are
located.
Other 'open areas' include the Balmoral estate including Lochnagar
and the northern corries of Cairngorm. Full detials from the
Mountaineering
Council of Scotland web site.
