Blimey, it's that time of year when everything's grey and murky
out there, just between the bits when it's light grey and murky and
the bit after, when the grey gets darker and white bits start
appearing. Must be, cos the annual October Outdoor Fest is
back at the weekend running from 23rd - 30th October 2004 .
The what? It's a week of activities based around Gaynor
Sports in Ambleside in the Lakes with experts to answer your
questions, guided walks, navigation clinics and even a kids' treasure
hunt. Plus you can win a weekend break with Gore-Tex footwear.
Even better, all proceeds are pledged to Langdale and Ambleside
Mountain Rescue Team, so not only are you having a good time, you're
supporting a good cause too and helping the people who are there to
help you when things go wrong to transform their operations centre
into a high tech rescue hub.
Highlights...
Highlights of the week include the chance to go for a stroll
around the Fairfield Horseshoe with Trail's legendary Technical
Editor Graham Thompson, while trying Leki poles for size. There's a
Country Walking amble with editor Jonathan Manning. Silva is running
navigation clinics and, if you're around on Thursday 28, you can team
up with Berghaus's 8,000-metre man, Alan Hinkes for a wander on the
fells and consult Berghaus kit experts in Gaynors. And that's just
the half of it...
Win A Weekend Break
Visit Gaynor Sports between 23 and 31 October and you'll be able
to enter a Gore-Tex footwear competition to win a weekend break for
two and the AA five-diamond Howbeck Hotel in Windemere complete with
dinner on board a 34-foot yacht - nice...
