Good grief, a press release just landed in our in box announcing
yet another show for outdoors people, this one, just for a change
though, is scheduled to take place outdoors with the event being held at
the well known outdoor Mecca, Lee Valley Showground near the M25.
URBAN Escapes - that's the name of the new show - aims to cover a
range of activities including 'walking, cycling, boating, specialist
angling, adventure sports, canoeing and gardening.'
There will also be a camping and caravaning zone with 400 pitches
up for grabs if you want to camp at the showground where there will
also be 'a village green and picnic park featuring live bands, a
farmers market, children's entertainment, Morris dancers and catering
facilities with an international flavour to cater for everyone's
tastes.'
'Other outdoor leisure shows ironically tend to be held inside
exhibition venues,' says TJW Events director Tracy Guerrero. 'Holding
our show at Lee Valley Showground means we can give people the chance
to escape to the country and really get hands on with a totally
interactive outdoor show.'
Whether the industry has the resources and will to support yet
another outdoors show remains to be seen. The main NEC Outdoors Show
in the spring and its London satellite at Islington are due to be
held again in 2005, while a Scottish show, cancelled because of lack
of support in 2004, is also poised to take place next year.
URBAN Escapes is scheduled for 17 - 19 June 2005. Anyone
interested in finding out more information or exhibiting at the event
can find out more at the URBAN
Escapes web site.
