Weekend Weather 3/4 August 2002
|
This is our regular Friday round-up of what's in store
for the weekend. Note that the excellent Online Weather mountain
weather forecast is being re-vamped and will be unavailable until
July - see this update
- as a result the clickable links on the map below are temporarily
unavailable. Still are, that's web site redesigns for you. We'll let
you know as soon as the mountain weather forecast is back.
• The Met
Office says things are getting better, sort of, with the rain that's been bucketing down the last few days moving northwards and on into Scotland, today leaving behind it sunshine and showers in most of England. But then as the rain moves off the north of the island it looks as though there'll be more thundery stuff popping up from the south again.
• The BBC
Weather site uses Met Office data, but is generally easier to
follow. Their five-day forecast is region specific and you can select
by town name or post code. Mainly it agrees with the Met Office
details - no surprise there then - except that there ain't no sunny
intervals predicted except in Milton Keynes. Check specific areas:
Fort
William / Kendal
/ Betws-y-Coed
/ Aviemore
/ Skipton
/ Glossop
(Peak) / Brecon
/ Milton
Keynes.
• Saturday's
general forecast from Online Weather wet in far north, warm with
sunny spells elsewhere. Sunday
sunny spells with showers virtually everywhere.
• BBC
Pollen Forecast We're on the downward slope now, especailly with all this rain.
It's not as bad as it was a couple of days ago
Not exactly what we expect from August
Verdict Skip over to the Met Office to take a look at their exciting rainfall animation. Jon will probably have more to say on this, but at the moment he's paddling home towards Glossop in a beautiful pea-green boat.
