It's turning into quite a literary month on the OM news section,
so you won't be surprised to hear that we have some more book news
for you, this time it's an outdoors cook book called
Moveable Feasts, which is published in October.
We'll
be bringing you a full review in a few weeks time along with some
recipe tests, but if you've one of those people who's always been at
a loss when it comes to camp cooking - no, not that sort of camp -
then it could be your salvation.
Not Just Recipes...
Publishers, Cicerone, tell us that it's more than just a recipe
book. It goes right through the basics of outdoor cooking equipment,
nutrition, hydration and more, so you're not just cooking random
stuff because you like it, you're also optimising your hill
performance at the same time.In particular it breaks down the basics
of nutrition to help you plan what you should be eating both before,
after and during time on the hill.
There's also some basic information on home dehydrating for all
you ultra-lightweighters out there, and finally, of course, there are
the recipes themselves including 'Proper Bread' no less along with
rapid stuff, one-pan stuff and lots more.
From a quick flick through, we reckon this is a book that could
revolutionise your outdoors eating experience, both in terms of
variety and nutrition and we're uncharacteristically excited at the
prospect of testing some of the recipes for real. Trangia fondue
anyone?
Moveable Feats is published by Cicerone Press in October at
£14.95. More information at www.cicerone.co.uk
Discuss this story
Hi all Thanks for the mention of our book, Moveable Feasts: what to eat and how to cook it in the great outdoors. I hope you'll enjoy some of the recipes and pick up some other useful information. We had a lot of fun writing it, we though spent more time cooking and eating last year than we did exercising - something we'll have to remedy soon! We'll be interested to hear your ideas and feedback. Amy
